The Musical Instrument Museum (Scottsdale, Arizona) is running a special exhibition on drums of the world through June 21, 2015. An elaborately inlaid 1890 Lyon & Healy snare drum donated to the museum by the publisher of FieldDrums blog is part of the exhibit. “Build it and they will drum.” Dedicated to research, study and comparisons of field drums. Our purpose is to collect information about historical U.S. drums (manufacture, preservation, conservancy, repair, market) for use by scholars, collectors and others. It's extremely important that as many museum visitors as possible get to see these drums and gain an enhanced appreciation for them as both musical icons and cultural art.
